The Holy Quran, says that a true believer must be truthful. The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) also told the Muslims to speak the truth. He said to them, “When you speak, speak the truth.” He said that a truthful person is the best among men and proved by his own example that he was the most truthfulness man.

The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) told the Muslims to speak the truth even if it harms their own relatives. He told them not to fear people while speaking the truth. He forbade them from telling lies, even as a joke.
The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) is reported to have said:
“A Muslim can be a coward or a miser but he cannot be a liar.
“One of the signs of a hypocrite is that when he talks, he tells lies.”
An honest man not only speaks the truth but also shows by his actions and deeds what he believes to be true. Telling the truth is a very good habit. If a person speaks the truth, he saves himself from a lot of trouble.

A truthful person wins the confidence of people around him and is respected by everyone. On the other hand, a person who tells lies is not liked by the society.
A person who always speaks the truth is a good Muslim. Allah loves him and is pleased with him. The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) said that a truthful person is rewarded with Heaven by Allah.

A Muslim should adopt simplicity in his way of living. Islam emphasises simplicity in life. The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) life is an example of simplicity in every aspect of life. He wore simple clothes and did not like display or show of wealth. He taught his companions through his example how to lead a simple life.
The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) lived simply in Makkah as well as in Madinah. Even when he became the head of state in Madinah, he continued his modest life style.
The Holy Prophet(sal lal la ho alai he wasalam) wanted his family and his companions to lead a life of purity and restraint. His wife, Hazrat Ayesha(razi allah tala ahnu) said that when he died, there was nothing to eat in the house except some barley.
